QUEEN’S PARK – Kristyn Wong-Tam (Toronto Centre), NDP critic for the Attorney General, released the following statement:
“Today, by way of voting down a NDP motion, the independent Auditor General as an Officer of the Legislature was prevented from sitting at the table at the Public Account Committee. This effectively blocked her from providing valuable input to a committee that conducts oversight on the government’s finances and spending.
This small committee has an important role to play in ensuring government is transparent and accountable. The Auditor General must be able to provide input on her own reports including Value-For-Money audits.
