MPP Doly Begum (Scarborough Southwest), Deputy Leader of the Ontario NDP, released the following statement to mark Bangladeshi Heritage Month:
"March marks the beginning of Bangladeshi Heritage Month in Ontario. This an important month for the Bangladeshi community when we come together to celebrate and share Bangladeshi heritage, culture, food, achievements and contributions of Bangla people with this province.
The Bangladeshi community is a vibrant, diverse and thriving group in Ontario who have helped this province grow and prosper in every sector from the food and beverage industry to healthcare.
This is a community that believes in sharing hope and light, with amazing talent, local businesses, food, arts, and performances, as well as community leaders who stand up for Ontarians and Ontario.
My NDP colleagues and I look forward to spending this month honouring Bangladeshi culture and heritage, remembering the history, and enhancing the work and voice of the community in Ontario.
Once again, here's wishing everyone a beautiful month celebrating Bangladeshi Heritage Month."
